SUMMARY:Electric Company Art Gallery ~ Delmus Phelps - Journey to Create Beauty
DESCRIPTION:Delmus Phelps\, of Lynchburg Virginia has been an active painter since the mid 70’s creating works in the Realist tradition. \nBeing inspired by the nature around him and in things we tend to collect. Delmus produces still life and floral oil paintings in the Classical/Contemporary Style on canvas and panels. With a particular interest in sharp focus realism\, he produces still life works of incredible detail. His floral pieces exude a peace and serenity much needed in today’s hectic lifestyles. \n  \nHis goal\, as an artist\, is to provide his customer with an aesthetically pleasing picture. He also does an occasional landscape after riding his motorcycle through the Blue Ridge Parkway. These landscapes also reflect the beauty he sees in so many things. With Corporate and Private Collectors (some international) his art is well received. He also has a teaching website that explores the many processes used in both today’s paintings and yesteryear. Delmus uses a 14th Century Flemish\, multi-layered technique to produce his work. He is represented in several Central Virginia Galleries and on the web. His works will be enjoyed for generations. \nThe Electric Company Art Gallery on 207 E. Depot St. in Bedford is happy to present his works for the month of July. \nPlease come by\, 2nd Friday\, July 14th and come join us in this journey to discover beauty. Depot St. in Bedford would like to invite you to our 4th Annual “Itsy Bitsy” exhibit in our gallery.  The “Itsy Bitsy” exhibit was displayed from June 1st to June 30th. NOW it will be displayed for the month of JULY as well\, due to popular demand! \nBeyond creating an enjoyable place for residents to relax and visit with friends and families\, we see this event as a very positive way to celebrate the community spirit of Bedford County and our appreciation for the artists\, in our local area who have given so much to making this exhibition what it is today. \n“Itsy Bitsy” has all small works 6 x 6 or smaller for sale.  Pieces are 2-D and 3-D. \n  \nThe Gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturday\, 11 AM to 5 PM. \nWe hope you can join us for this fun show!

SUMMARY:13th annual “Horse and Hound” Wine Festival
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy wine from some of Virginia’s finest wineries while listening to good music and visiting art\, craft and food vendors. Virginia’s most unique wine festival has numerous events throughout the day with horses and dogs as the primary attractions such as the Parade of  Horses\, lure course and muskrat racing.  Families will enjoy this festival because it appeals to both young and old and we have a Kiddie Korral.  The event takes place on the spacious and gracious grounds of Johnson’s Orchards & Peaks of Otter Winery 2122 Sheep Creek Rd\, Bedford Va 24523 with spectacular Blue Ridge mountain views. 11am-6pm \n Lure Coursing\nThere will be a demonstration of Lure Coursing given by Laura Cormier. Lure coursing is a humane sport which recreates the chase of the hare by the pursuing hound. The “bunny” consists of strips of white plastic attached to a continuous loop line that runs through a series of pulleys to simulate the zigzag path of a rabbit on the run \nMuskrat Races\nThis event uses the Jack Russell Terrier’s highly developed prey drive to swim through water in pursuit of an artificial lure. \nDogs of all shapes and sizes are invited to swim across the pond in pursuit of an artificial lure. There will be three divisions of competition: small\, medium\, and large dogs. The winner in each division will receive a trophy \nParade of Horses\nProvided and directed by Reba Farm Inn and Saddle Soar Equitainment.\nThe Horse parade will continue to be a crowd pleaser with a wide variety of horses to be exhibited. In addition there will be new and exciting events such as: featured wild horses from the herd on the outer banks\, N.C. and a Chincoteague pony from Virginia’s Assateague Island. \n Kiddie Korral\n Supervised activities for children simulating rodeo games and quiet games as well throughout the day. Supervision by the staff and volunteers of  Brook Hill Farm Rehabilitation and Rescue \nPart of the proceeds will benefit 501-3c organizations that benefit horses and dogs. 11am-6pm

SUMMARY:Beale's Limited Release:  Peach Wheat Ale
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first limited edition release featuring the Peach Wheat Ale. This beer was brewed from peaches found on the trees of Gross Orchard in the hills of Bedford County.  \nWe will only be selling this in our taproom (no growler fills because of the limited supply) and we expect to kick the kegs by the end of the weekend. Black Collar takes the stage from 5 to 8 p.m. \nTo celebrate we’ll have peach-glazed BBQ ribs and peach hand pies.  \n Gross Orchard will be on site selling peaches.  \nMore about the Peach Wheat Ale: 4.8% ABV\, 20 IBUs\, conditioned on 350 lbs of Bedford County peaches. It’s sweet with a dry\, clean finish\, and slightly hazy. \n  \n
