SUMMARY:D-Day Memorial Flames of Memory and Christmas in Wartime Presentation
DESCRIPTION:December 14th\, 15th\, & 16th – nightly beginning at 6:00pm \nAs twilight deepens and obscures the Blue Ridge\, the Memorial will honor the 4\,413 men killed on D-Day.  Arranged throughout the monument\, thousands of luminaries will shine in recognition of Overlord’s fallen and in tribute to the ultimate sacrifice each made to relight the lamp of freedom.  Luminaries are sold throughout the year and may be purchased in honor or in memory of anyone who has served.  A printed program will be distributed during the event and will include the tributes.  Call (540) 586-3329 for more information or email giving@dday.org.

DESCRIPTION:The Welcome Center will be filled with beautifully decorated trees with the theme “Victorian Christmas” in celebration of our 10th Annual Festival of Trees! This is a “don’t miss” event! Visitors can vote for their favorite tree(s) for only $1.00/vote. All proceeds will benefit the charitable organizations designated by the businesses. The event is fun for the whole family and features a scavenger hunt for children\, as well as certain nights when Santa will visit and there will be free cookies\, hot chocolate and craft activities. The event runs through January 4\, 2019.
